Page 1 of 3 ![]() Captain Eli's - from the parking lot Captain Eli's is famous for great fish and chips, lots of karaoke, and a stabbing way back when. Thankfully the karaoke and stabbings don't go hand in hand, and around supper time you're safe from both. :-) Located in the strip mall on Young Street in north end Halifax, just up from the Eastlink Building and across from the Superstore, it's out of the way of downtown and other people attractors such as the business park(s) and some of the big-box chain stores. However, there does seem to be a loose-knit group of restaurants/bars in the area (Pizza Hut, Steak and Stein, The Lion's Head, Tarek's, Subway, etc). We ordered coke, coffee, water, steak and fajitas. Coke was actually Coke, not Pepsi, and came in cans as opposed to being fountain pop. Water was straight from the tap, with ice. No bottled fanciness here. Service was quick, but the food was maybe a shade slow for the number of people that were there - but certainly wasn't an unreasonable delay. Perhaps I was just extra hungry and that made time go by more slowly. ![]() Fajitas - Part 1 The tortillas were a little different once unrolled - they were half tortillas cut from probably a 12 inch round tortilla. It made for wrapping the fajitas a little challenging since I've never had to use a half-moon shape before, but challenging food is always fun. |
